My experience is that many guitar players don’t want to study to become “Musicians”,  they just want to play the guitar. That is my approach to teaching, from the concrete lick to abstract understanding. Not the other way around. Hands on.

These are a few my blues heroes. This will give you a good idea of the styles I teach: Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mississippi John Hurt, Brownie McGhee, Josh White.

This is finger style acoustic, not lead guitar electric music.

I charge $50/hr, and generally do a half hour lesson. I work at home, near the Delta Ponds, off of Goodpasture. For $10 more I can come to your house.

I’m not interested in how good you are. I’m interested your willingness to play the guitar and work on what we do between lessons.

There is not a lot of paper, theory, etc. but you still have to actually work on it to learn.
